LOCHBY Products

I first discovered LOCHBY on Amazon in a search for a tool roll that would be stout enough for moto travel, accommodate my smaller tools for roadside repairs and fit under the seat of the Triumph Tiger Explorer, no small feat. The folks at LOCHBY had the good business sense to offer their products through this all-consuming giant, and as algorithms go, we got hooked up.

The tool roll has worked perfectly, deployed dozens of times for maintenance and repairs (mostly of other motorcycles), and despite the miles, grease and being splayed out on all kinds of pavement, it’s waxed canvas and honeycomb ripstop nylon have resisted wear and the elements.

I liked it so much I gave it a positive review which seemed to get the attention of the folks at LOCHBY who’ve been so kind to send me two additional items from their product line to review, the Field Journal and the Venture Pouch.

The LOCHBY Field Journal

This 17CM by 25CM (6.75X9.75) is crafted in the same waxed canvas outer shell with the honeycomb ripstop nylon interior and features double-stitching and bartacking, perfect to fight the elements of moto-travel.

Inside is a wealth of thoughtfulness in design, from its multiple attachment points for LOCHBY Field Journal Notebooks (up to four) with two nylon ribbon bookmarks, to its multiple pockets and pen holders.

The Field Journal ships with a dot-grid Tomoe River notebook and LOCHBY has a proprietary collection of ruled, planner, wide ruled and plain fillers. The Tomoe River acid-free paper accepts my gel pen without smearing (handy for a left-hander), and no bleed through, making writing and mapping a pleasure.

My only wish is that the journal cover be another half-inch longer to accommodate and stash standard maps.

The LOCHBY Venture Pouch

The clever design of this 9″ x 4.75″ x 2″ gives it a versatility and ease of use I’ve yet to experience in other travel/toiletry bags.

In fact, it got me to consider other uses, like stashing electronics gear. LOCHBY suggests a use for art supplies as well.

But, what I really need is a good toiletry bag that’s compact and yet easy to access and the Venture Pouch has this dialed in.

Made with the same craftsmanship as the Field Journal and Tool Roll, the pouch has a double-pocket construction that accepts three to four 3oz bottles, wipes and Q-Tips on one side…

…and then fully opens on the other side to stash longer items.

The result is a compact kit that has everything I need.

The pouch had a D-ring and a small handle attached to hang and tote.

All LOCHBY’s items come in three colors, the one pictured here along with slate black and slate blue. I’m looking forward to using these items on the road.
